Project Details

When deciding to downsize or transition to a retirement community, we believe that your space can still feel like home. Our goal with these projects is to remove the angst from moving and make these retirement homes truly reflect the life of the owner. Below are details on featured projects we've completed at Westminster Canterbury, Cedarfield, and Covenant Woods.

Westminster Canterbury Project Details

Several years ago we helped this client with some interior design projects for her lovely home in Manakin-Sabot. When JO decided to move into one of the garden apartments at Westminster, we were delighted to work with her again. We truly tried to “reduce, reuse, and re-purpose.” With the masterful hand of our seamstress, the lovely silk drapes for the living room were restructured. Cornices were made utilizing fabric which matched existing furniture, and a beautiful Austrian shade for the master bedroom was constructed. Upon completion, her beautiful new home at Westminster perfectly captured the indispensable quality of her old home in Manakin-Sabot.

Cedarfield Project Details

This client was getting ready to move into a wonderful two bedroom, two bathroom unit at Cedarfield. Her children wanted to “do it right” and employed us. After an initial visit to her home in Petersburg, we began to know JS and what she loved. It’s easy to proceed with design once you get to know the person. First, we had to decide what furniture to take from her homeplace in Petersburg and how to place it. Next came paint colors, fabrics for window treatments and wallpapers. Finally a few furniture pieces were decided upon, making sure every piece sat well. Long story short, it is now a very comfortable and beautiful place to live.

Covenant Woods Project Details

In order to be closer to her children, CF, moved from a lovely home in Matthews, Virginia to a cottage home in Covenant Woods.  What we loved most about this project was that CF only had photos of her furniture with measurements. Visualizing the space and placement of the furniture was so fun because when the movers arrived everything fit perfectly in the space as we planned. The final touch was restructuring current drapes as well as creating additional upholstery and treatments to complete the feel of CF’s new home.
